ain't got ogres, or elves, but .......but it got kung fu.

i been huge fun of kung fu, since the a child, took some classes which they didn't work out. But that didn't stop me, by seen more from the Shaw brother, to the Bruce Lee ones, to today. Now a reunion of two of the best, unite for one movie. To they bring great choreography, or they are acting like kid? here my review:

Jason Tripitika(Michael Argarano) is just your average loving kung fu loving kid, that admire the art of classic film, but when he dream about a monkey putting the kicks on some bad guy it make himself , into something. So one day he go to the nearest pawnshop where we meet hop( a very old jackie Chan), buying bootleg film, when he stumble in a room , that hold ancient staff that belong to a warrior. Heading home he cross path with a bully, that force him to go and rob Hop pawnshop. By entering they star looking for the money until hop gets shot, giving the staff to jason, which he make a run for it, chase around the street he reach an end in a roof, where the gang starting to treating him for what happen, when all of the sudden the staff start to push him to the cliff. When falling he wake in a village, frighten, he run when the sudden is invaded by the royal guard of the warlord, destroying houses, killing the men, and taken the women. By the time he meet a drunken traveller by the name of Lu Yan(Chan again) that save him, and invite him for a drink, where he tell him the story of the monkey king, and the importance of the weapon that he hold, so chase by guards, he is join by a silent monk,(jet Li), and a mysterious musician by the name of the golden sparrow(Liu Yifei) he is trained, and complete the prophesy to go to the 4elements mountains and return the staff that will awaken the monkey king, before the bounty hunter and jade warlord(Collin Chou) guards stop them.

The storyline seem to take from the Never ending story, but more of a karate way, with the basic that come to the main actor. Michael character is always the dimsy, and help es movie geek that we meet in real life, more like the resemblance to Shia Lebouf in the transformers. But the kid can fight that make the movie more joyful. The chemistry that Jackie character have with the Jet Li type, is the fun of the movie, specialty in the scene where Chan to make some rain. From the bad guys view i like more the bounty hunter Ni Chang play by Li Bingbing, that there haven't been a mean female fighter since Ziyi Zhang. Burt lets get something straight i know most of the Jet Li film he always play the silent type, from Once a upon a time in china 1 to 3 to Kiss of the dragon. But now he show he lighter side when playing the monkey king, i mean when ye gonna see him monkey around not on the set of war. But even stranger enough by when he said that fearless whats gonna be he last epic movie. wel this seem more epickier?Is nice to see Jackie Chan getting out of the disney film, leaving he rush hour persona behind and playing the drunken master, that he already did, in the drunken master.

But lest get to the best part of the film which is the fighting of course. The jackie and Jet confrontation is by far the best of the film, with the kick they give one another, is reminded me of the triple fight with the captain in Chan Project A. of course they where all done by the most busiest now hollywood stunt choreographer of mister Yun Wo-ping. that are well nicely styli est.

especially when it come to the staff fight between the jade warlord n the monkey king.

Been directed by the man who have done more animation film, from the classic Lion King, to the cg mouse of both Stuart Little films. Make ye wonder how he pull it all off, for a film like that. the film have fun in the way the characters interact, to the visual that certainly took from other kung fu movies like the crouching tiger hidden dragon palaces, to the old ancient Chinese weapons.

Is not the best kung fu film of the decade like it was with Jet Li Hero, but deliver the best duel fight of Jackie Chan and Jet Li, that bring the entertainment, From the fighting in a restaurant, to the slapstick training that made Chan famous.

The film goes directly to a family that will enjoy it. To even a martial art aficionado. so it got the kicks and adventure, and some jump, but ye can expect much. So for me i go watching the 7 swords to Azumi as one best epic martial art films. But i m here waiting for Jet Li bad guy(which he really good at) in The mummy 3.

21 is a peculiar, and very unique film that i wanted to see. But yeah there been other film that base on heist or cheating. And there manny, but lately the game of poker, is what making head. right now, with the whole tournament that is airing on tv. Now there's a movie that show, if you have a plan, a strategy, and know well the numbers of every card. Well ye become a big shot, in a city that never sleep (cause they spread ya with somekind of gas to keep ya up all the night). Heres my review:

Ben Campbell(Jim Sturgess), is senior on MIT, he spend hes time working with friend building a robot for a contest, attending classes, working on a clothing store(which he was promoted, and hanging in a bar with the coworkers. But when he answer a very special answer in Mickey Rosa(Kevin Spacey) class. Discover the reason why is so important to count card. join by other member, he is it, train, to learn words that turn to number, and study the true strategy of blackjack. Cause on the weekend beside smuggling money, is Vegas baby, is Vega. Where the table come with hes own rules, when in go, one of the member show he hand on back mean the game is hot, when is pointed in the eye, it means, we need to talk, and a stroke in the hair, is time to go. making it the best time of he's life, money, girl, respect while been watch by a security agent by the name of Cole(Laurence Fishburne) who already had a run in with Mickey. All is good but back home, he make every aside from classes, to he friends. Becoming more greedier that could jeopardy the team, with a jealousy, and some mistrust with the leader. Is a good life, but when you add more card to the deck, is a lost.

The movie is special on the way the cheat on poker, is like been in 5th grade all over again. i mean i don't know that there some drama or is it a manual on how to count the card. The narration was good, cause is told by the way the card is play. same way that Morgan freeman describe a boxing fight in million dollar baby.

Kudos go to Kevin Spacey acting, on this films, as the best leader and squealing teacher in a movie. Just looking on he devilish eyes you know that he can make yer life bad in school steal ya everything that you own. Jim Sturges role was very cliches on a regular note, from the shy beginner to the compulsive addict, that the same to Philip Seymour Hoffman owning mahowny.

The varies stages that the movie have, was well narrated, cause the best part was the technic they had, on cheating, from the mule in a crotch, to cashing the chips using your local strippers, the art is fun and intelligent, yet need be a mathesian to get into the action. but different to another Dustin Hoffman movie(Rainman). But more educational(ok i m exxagerating here)

So the movie dont have the king of rock, or brad pitt, matt dillon, or a george clooney, but is wellcraft, it has it own style of playing it. And showing the real life of what Vegas is all about.

So if ye wanna see something di9fferent, that doesnt have side gags, or bad remakes, or guys that got powers. Then go and see what math is good for you.

Best post-apocalypsis movie of the year.

last year , i went to the comic-con, with the chance to meet, and greed. To the man that is know for director of the dog soldier and the descent. but knowing fate had different plan. The ticket were sold out. So the only chance that went away, i never get the opportunity to see, him. But doesn't mean i cant see he's most recently film. is it good or is just that good. Here my review:

On April 08 of 2008, a virus was discover, contaminating all of scotland, that have to declare Marshall law, in time wiping most of the north of England. Quarantine was made, and to stop it, walls was build all around of the country. With mine and automatic search machine guns, killing everything in sight, and no flight zone. 35 year have past, and England is in the ruin, unemployment have rise, most country have ignore their help, and a state of totalitarian, have been reigning. But thing have gotten worse when the virus appear again, so to resolve the problem, knowing they haven't know or heard of Scotland, or like they call it the hot zone, their survivors, there's a cure. so know they prepare a team led by the eye patch who use it for a camera Major Sinclair(Rhona Mintra) to recover it, before 48hrs. Entering a world without justice, moral, unity. No backup, and find your own way out. Welcome to the end of the wold, in Doomsday.

so let me begin with the characters:

First less start with Rhona Mintra character, now she real star of the movie, giving the anti-hero attitude, but the captain that take anything to serious, and have camera of eye. She very well be the daughter of the of snake plissken.

Now the villain of sol play by Graig Conway, is the most brutal character, i have seen so far in a Neil Marshall, with the sarcasm he give, it remind me of the hockey wearing mask of road warrior that needed. I mean who in he right mind would drive he car with he's beheaded girlfriend, is beyond disturb, is beyond disgusting, is something new. And knit

Bob hopkins is the main best friend of our heroin, with hes feet on the situation, and always been ask for a smoke. Is the best friend that anyone need.

Malcom McDowell is the la creme of them all playing, as the doctor, turn into dictator, is where the acting is at. Just letting the movie been narrated by him, set the dark tone, that the film have. Give more narrative job to this man. Hes great.

Now the action, yeah that's where the gold is, following he love to late 70's and 80's film. There's no comparison for this film. I wont say their name, but it show the love that Marshall have, from the first encounting of the marauders that survive the virus, it show that someone have been playing to much counter strike. The action don't stop, until the tank start moving(another scene seen in a movie), the wild ride in the elevator that can't be shown in a movie call demolition man. To the cooking scene, that something that only ely roth could made, but gets marshall did first. The body seem more chicken meat, than the cow one, made with some soft foam(i think) give the reality of cooking a person. But the best is the arena fight, when Mintra go up against a full armor knight, that is well choreograph, that will say it, that is even better than the troll fight of the 1st LOTR. I know is absurd but is truth. Just watch it that something that a girl can do. And to end it the best car chase fight scene, where the real fun of the film is. It have took the camera team days to shoot it, some thing that remind of another post apocalyptic film which i wont mention, good. That the fast and furious will never do.

this is by far the best homages to those movie, that only the twisted mind of Neil Marshall do. The movie will not please most audiences, and will be bomb by critic, by for those who remember, the post apocalyptic film, will love this, with the brutality, and entertaining that it is. Is one step showing that this director can mix action with horror. That only John Carpenter(he even a character have that last name) could make.

The movie, have gore like any other, but when it come of showing it. This director can do. Lest just hope that the movie doesn't fall to the bad heroin curse, that have happen to film like barb wire to catwoman. So to close, hey Marshall if ye read this, if you have plan to continuing the adventure of major Sinclair, let me write a comic about it, please. cause i need a gig like that show that there's more of a woman, than spending a night with her and watching the home shop network. Is horrible, horrible.

this is the ice age, but it wasn't made by fox.

There been movies, that have epic in their resume it, from Cleopatra, to Ben hurt there few, that take place in the stone ages, Like the quest for fire. But

for Roland Emmerish, is he job, from the interplanetary Stargate, to the sci-fi invasion Indiependence Day. Now 10,000 BC, live up to the name? Calling it epic. Heres my review:

In a age where man live in tribe, where the man become the hunter, and the woman raise their young en, they hunt the mighty Mannak(Mammoths), for food, that could last them a whole season. But there the witch of the village, tell a story where they where gonna be invaded, by monster, burning and taken some to be slaves, that the chosen one will come, to free their people, and rescue the girl that he love. And become the new leader, that we guide them to new world. So when that happen, D' leh(Steven Strait) is of to adventure, where he travel snow, jungle, attack by carnivore birds, face a sabertooth, and reunited a country to take down, a empire, and taking them to a city they call The mountain of the gods. To rescue his beloved Evolet(Camilla Belle). And adventure that determined a man to go out, and fight for what is worth. Or something like that.

Call it a apocalypto, or a scorpion king rip off. But there so much i can tell ya about this film Lets get to good thing. Like any Roland film what count more is the fx, always, from the blasting of id4 to the rampaging of the awful remake of Godzilla. On this one, is pretty impressive, in the case of the hunt of the Mannaks(Mammoths), going to great link to make them real, from the hair to their tusk, that really show lots advance. The Birds, for which i call them raptors , look more big giant turkeys, with a eagle head, or great, great relatives to the ostrich. that gave more of the suspense to the film. But what is the creme of the creme, is when they arrive to the mountain of the gods, that actually is Cairo, but impressive shots of what for me is the miniature, of the pyramids, that they even show the sphinx, with good lightning, texture. and like any epic battle , yes theirs and army running to battle, same way that peter jackson did, in theLOR, to Wolfgang did in Troy. That was short, not longer like the others.

Now the bad news, there weren't any actual acting, most of what Steven Trait did, just whining how desperate he is to rescue Evolet, but not even Camilla didn't talk, in the movie, just been, cliched moment the damsel in distress. Now the common language, well they split on this one, in the good side they spoke in common English, that really for me is a case of lost in translation, but on the bad guys side more to the language they use on those time. You have to admire Mel films from the passion to the he last one Apocalypto, that have the real language they use in those ages. But here is more confusion than understanding a foreigner driving a Taxi. Now the case, of the Mountain of the gods, or just Cairo, let ya wonder weren't that Egypt tha build them, but of course, there's a fact, the it wasn't them, but other, i better read my history text. But hey there also the case, to who is the the one they call the god and, the surprise i had, when was reveal who was he or she, i wont spoil it fer ya.

The story kind of of another film that, have the epic on the mark, the native vs viking film call Pathfinder. That really when with that, of the chosen that was gonna go and saving hes people, etc, etc. To even the prophecy that hunter receive, in Apocalyp, on how their life was gonna end. I mean it was great they went to that direction, but that doesn't mean that every epic movie have to have it. So there surprise for me.

For the best movie that define the word epic, was last year Zach 300, always. But the 10,000BC doesn't show to much on the story side but the age, on how it was back on those days. What truly made the film, but hey it does entertain, just something to wet our appetite, for the real epic movies, they're coming in summer. So for Roland, well ain't a Godzilla sequel. But is better he make the stargate films.

the afro, as Jackie Moon, the famous, basketball promoter, and owner, of the flint tropics. And this is he story:

Jackie Moon(Will Ferrell) is a famous singer, with he s softy and jazzy singing, that made him into a superstar, that let him win all kind of awards, but nothing was better than being the owner and coach of the Flint Michigan Tropics, in the America basketball association(or just ABA). But being that they 're the worst team in the league, but a break come, when news is spread that the Aba was merging with the NBA, they only want 4 team, while rest disapear as disco did. So now the commisionar is giving every team a chance to be on top 4 team to make it to the pro. So what the tropics do, they trade their washing machine, for a pro from the NBA, Monix(Woody Harrelson) that he accepted to be close to her girlfriend Lynn(Maura Tierne), but start having a feud with the only star of the team Clarence(Andre Benjamin). While jackie start the season by giving entertainment on every half time show, so they needed a new coach, who knows he way around on the blackboard, that where Monix is in play, while jackie find away, to bring more audiences, and start turnning he team into a franchise, will they reach their goal, will they work as team? Just sit , and see on how a man that fought a bear make it happen.

O.K. then what did like about the movie, was the crazy stunt that will ferrell pull, from the jumping over a ramp over 8 cheerleaders, to what may be the funniest moment, the fighting of Dewie, the killer bear, that run amok, in the whole picture. And of course the owing of $10 000 to duke, But felt the movie lack on the storyside, cause is something common of any sport movie, exemple MAJOR LEAGUE. The joke were classic, like anything that Will Ferrell film have, from introducing of the team at the beginning of the movie, to the the low blow that Woddy gives to Will to show him how to vomit. Woddy Harrelson role was the drama of the story, that remind me of another sport film he did with westley snipe. Andre Benjammin, was perfect for him, as the athlete that wanna make it to majors. The feud that both of this character had, when well, but confusing on who's the real star of this. I didnt fell the movie as a hoops ripoff, but something that that can make fun on how to be basketball team, and turning it , into a franchise. the stunts was the pride and joy of the film from giving free corn dog to making a dance number, that have what would happen if they have made a b version of the little mermaid. But the chemistry of all the actors work, especially to the foreign one that didn't understand nothing of English. The relationship of the Monix with Lynn, remind to same story in that every sport movie have. But the gold of this movie was the commentaries, of Will Arnell, gives, from the talk of the jackson five, to the pulling gun in the poker scene. That really show how screw up are we, when you 're around friends.

so the only foul that this movie have, they have should have made fun of the game, especially when it take place in the lates 70s. Some of gag work for me, like the bear attacking Andy Richter, to even the commissioner. They should have gone along with that, like the golfer of caddy shack.

So if ye wanna see , Will Ferrell, in a fro, this is your movie, with no declassification, in it.

Is even better when ye see him treating a father re ff. That's classic.

he shoots , splatter and, and. . . more splatter

Old franchise make a comeback, first came the famous underdog boxer, the Italian stallion, Rocky Balboa, then last year it went, to the biggest whiner of all action hero's, in the wrong time
in the wrong place, John McClane, now is stallone(again) with made 3 films, made a total series, until he went all afghanist on it, But can this army vet, till can shoot, and slice some throat, here's the review:


Rambo retire(again) is living he life's, as a snake wrangler, and fisherman, plus a blacksmith, until a group of missionary ask for he' boat ,to take them to the civil war torn country of Burma, rejecting it. With just a little women touch it convince him, leaving them, in a village, where they give dental, medical, and spreading god word. When they re invaded, by corrupt general, and he's soldier, which burn houses, shooting everything insight, and throwing babies(yeah that bad) taking the volunteer as prisoners. So a pastor seek help to Rambo to lead a group of mercenaries, to go in and rescue them, we Rambo do it , or will he do it? or he keep retiring?

What i like was the introduction of the country where the film take place, showing montage, of the brutal killing, the unfair justice, the casualty, and the pile pile of bodies. More than 60years, this war have been going on. which take me the next thing, this movie is brutal, not gritty like sin city i mean brutal like cannibal holocaust. I mean some of the other movies, were violent, but this far is the most bloodier of them all.

Now the acting weren't that good, just typical stereotype, missioners act, "we came to make a different" and the mercenary attitude, they didn't make bad act from their part, especially the bald British wanna be stone cold attitude. Now less talk the real star of the film, it seem Stallone was in shape when filming, didn't convince me with this acting, we know that Rambo is a torture soul, haunted by he's memory in war, in this one he accept what he is, and that have already been seen in the third one, he's not the victim but more of what you're. I mean in psychological term when john McClain kill is to survive, but on this one is more of a job.

Another thing the action wasn't that good, i mean the one that take this film is the war of the country, not on the stealth of the hero. the scene when they enter the enemy base, and start rescue, was kind of slow, i mean one killing of the star, that didn't go right.

less not forget that the epic climax, the war, where Rambo spend he's time behind a machine gun, shooting to the soldier, and reloading, then shooting some more. ain't a fight like the other film. Something already seen in a B action movie. And when the rebel come to the rescue, it remind me of the third(again).

Seen this film, i was the only younger among most senior that stay until the credit came. It seem there some people that till love this character, especially the one's that grow watching he's film. But the bottom the line is the same element they use like the others, but this time Stallone didn't make a mistake like(i won't repeat).

The movie is not the best of the series, but that leave it mark, on how civil war is. But to be fair i would have like they have more time , and more interest plot. Than the vision they give on how
to make a modern war film, for this century.So if ya till love watching a Italian commando with a twisted lips. Just don't go seen it, like it was your first.

it started first with a trailer, then becomes, greatest secret of 07. Produce by J.J.Abrams, bringing the same mystery, from hes tv show "lost", and turning it, into viral marketing, that involve, a fictitious company, environmental group, a soft drink, and a pair that send video mail. Mix you get
Cloverfield, and here my review:

It start first with a recording in bed, tape by a couple Rob(Michael Stalh David) and Beth(Odette Yustman) on april where they go on a trip to coney islan. To spend the whole day in the rides. Then is another story where Lili(Jessica Lucas) and rob brother Jason(Mike Vogel) are going to the store buying thing for a party, in preparation the camara is giving to Hud(Tj Miller) to tape everybody in the party to tell their farewell to Rob, now he was promoted vice president for company, when the maid of honor is surprise, the party is on. But when friend comes, that wheres the drama happen, starting the gossip that Rob sleep with Beth knowing they were friends. And when she leave, the heartbreaking comes, the earthquake shake. so now the evacuation start, but when Rob get a call from Beth, is time to be hero. so join by hes friend they go through war zone streets, where every soldier, tank, and missile are being launch to something, to the infested subway tunnels, where the rats are running from something, to a very collapse tower, where the chances to get to the objective is zero. All record it, on the day Manhattan was invade it by something.

So first i wanna say that i don't know any of this actors or actress, but knowing they come from tv, they give the scare factor to this experiences that convinces you, that this is happening for real. Using the same formula they did on the Blair witch project, J.J. Abrams bring something that never been seen in a monster movie, in the Godzilla, is always on a scientist, or a general perspective that we see the movie on, but on this one just camcorder hold by everyday pedestrian.

I like the take on the taping, on how they go through the ruin of the city, while there's high tower monster destroying it. Like the filming on the subway, using the night vision, discovering the little crawler, to the surprise they get from the helicopter ride. It show most the destruction of the city, but what really took my eyes, seen the beast up and close.
The movie work very well, if ye been fol ow to the viral campaigns, there's little they give you, to what happening. there's no mystery in the movie, course i be wrong. One scene we see a elder Asian man talking something to the camera, than there's the question well i already spoil ya one scene, so i won't tell ya what the monster, but can tell ya one thing the crawlers they look like the starship troopers bugs. end

The suspense of the film, is the real surprise, is not always they make a film like this, but to J.J.Abrams, is something that could call a true American monster, from the score of credit, it show their making their own godzilla film. and by the camera was their ticket to making it. they succeeded.
